Invictus, by William Ernest Henley

Invictus is an art installation based on the poem "Invictus" by English poet William Ernest Henley. Brought to life by Storm Septimus, this exhibit is only open through December (2016?) in Second Life. Source: http://secondlife.com/destination/invictus

Invictus region, Secondlife
An overview of the island where the donjon and the macabre-looking garden in the Invictus region are situated
I had a walk around with a friend there the other day and I decided to make a bunch of photo's. I'm too lazy now to blog anything else about it.

scales
Scales, in a garden that is pretty macabre...

Let me just give you the link to the photo's: https://www.flickr.com/photos/96915038@N04/albums/72157673317754056
And to the region, as I stated before it'll (most likely) be open until december 2016: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/LEA25/37/198/81/

And, if you like, the poem that inspired this beautiful region, it is out of copyright, so it won't harm to place it here:

Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

William Ernest Henley (23 August 1849 – 11 July 1903)
