Every day out on the street something unexpected may happen. Like this weekend, a fan hit me up while I was crawling the curbs, greeting some of the new girls that came in at Street Whores and so on.

Who am I to day no to such a fun request. I suggested I could bare the girls to make the selfie a bit more memorable for him. He didn't say no.

The Slut Machine

At No. 5 bar they have installed an interesting new device: a 'slut machine'.

It's actually a gacha that has as rare prize a 15 mins blowjob. The cost is 75L, other prizes you can win are a beer (the bottle can be recycled) or some book and maybe some other things.

Dora Derriere (dora.lane) is one of the 3 girls in the 'Slut Machine' at No. 5 Bar. The other 2 are Fiver herself and Chrissy. It might be fun to try out once. Or you can just go hangout at the bar. I am often there too.

No. 5 bar

When there's no hot action going on, we now have a place for refreshments at Street Whores: the No. 5 bar! We've had cafés before: of course there has been 'The Used Condom' for many years now, with a gangbang / orgy bed on the upstairs, there used to be 'Quickies', run in one of the whorehouses that are for rent here. But No. 5 seems to run especially well these days.

Fiver and Queena rented one of the whorehouses and, thanks to the time and energy they put in it, turned it into a running bar. Fiver knows a few builders and scripters and that really paid off here. At the bar you can buy a beer from the fridge for 50L. Bottles can be recycled in the bin in the bar corner for 25L.
So there you've got an addional earning model for the slow hours: ask guys to buy you a drink and recycle the bottles. It won't get you rich any soon, but if you're a heavy drinker you will be able to make the rent. Just hang out in the bar long enough!

The bar even has it's own paper: No. 5 Classifieds. In the first edition already an advertisement could be found for Whotter's Fish & Chips...

Violins, foals and fish and chips

The other day I had a chat with Bo next to Whotter's fish and chips stand. I told bo about my two new odd daughters and brought in the white foals. For the first time, I noticed that Whotter actually liked to see them. He wasn't showing any sign of jealousy anymore.

Meanwhile, Bo and I were talking about 'making things happen'. Conctrary to regular video games, a virtual world is a platform, not a place with precooked storylines. And, oh blast, did Whotter just start feeding the poor foals fish and chips there? Hey, that's not good for horses! Damn Whotter.

Pro Tip 10: Fay: don't be fucking pushy with guys

Would you take advice from a girl who has that much cash stashed away in her cleavage? Well... I would, so I asked Fay Fire for a Pro Tip.

Pro Tip 9: Bojana: try to figure out what your client likes

I spoke with Bojana about my series 'Pro-Tips' almost 2 months ago now and she had actually given me a pro tip for my blog. I hadn't processed it until now though. So, it's about time:

"Always look at the Client's profile and try to work out what HE likes. Don't get stuck on what YOU offer..."

Being a whore is getting into someone's mind and becoming their fantasy. In RL learning to read the clues in someone's behaviour, or even their cock's reaction to what you do can be quite an art, in SL it can sometimes be much simpler: take the trouble to read someone's profile. Look at what it says, in SL and RL tabs, look at picks and groups.
Then you can have a look at their avatar and you may get an idea of what this person is about. Some may still surprise you of course. But that's part of the game too...  You will learn to read avatars over time.

Meat market or fish market?

Whotter went out on the streets again selling his fish, or at least he made it look like that, while I sat in my window and saw the same useless punks walk by that I run into every day. But not for long:

While selling sex at the Meat Market seems to be a no-brainer, or even a bit corny of a suggestion, there wasn't much need for paid sex obviously. Maybe the occasional wanking while watching the girls present, but no buying.
So it was time to get the Chinese food stand out again and start selling some actual meat! The end of summer

It has been a long and hot summer. As much as we love the season, as much as we know that it makes the men horny, ... summer heat isn't always good for business. The men go outside, take vacations, spend their free time with the wife and kids and they forget all about us.

It has been exceptionally dry and warm throughout Europe and that was noticed at Street Whores. Now, with September leading us into autumn, giving us the first long rainy days, I think it will become much more busy.

Moving a tyre kicker into the public bathroom

The other day I was standing here once again with a tyre kicker in view. I had seen him there for numerous times and no one recalled him ever having hired anyone. So...

I made myself a nice plywood box to put him in. Then it was easy to just slowly move the box. The physics in Second Life will make sure that he is moved along in the process.

This way you can even push an avatar straight through a wall. They won't feel a thing.

It's not the fastest procedure, but the effect is quite funny. Next time I bumped into this guy he ran away quite quickly...

My new window brothel

I never saw many functional window brothels in Second Life, so when I saw 3 consecutive shop spaces empty, just outside my front door, I decided to just rent the lot and see how it would work out if I started build my own.

It only took me about an hour or so to build it, so I could test it out with one of the girls that happened to be in the neighbourhood before too long. Of course Whotter thought the whole thing interesting too. Soon enough he realised there wasn't going to be any fish around though.

For every 3 windows I added a room with a bed and a sink. A simple phantom wall separates these from the vitrines. That's the handy thing about SL of course: I can omitt corridors and other spaces that just take up place.

I had to go on a trip over the weekend, but I was back soon enough to try the place for myself to work in. While I didn't get any business yet, I managed to attract some of the girls to try the vitrines. A few men walked by as well. If the thing works halfway decent, I will keep it after the month of rent I paid for it now.

Pro Tip 8: Violet: Change your outfits

Violet, with her sheer endless inventory and gigantic wardrobe is sitting on the fountain edge here. She asks a lot of money from her guys, but then: she gives a lot of love and made 1.5 million L$ in her first year of (text) escorting alone. While buying a new outfit every day, as Violet claims to do, is a bit drastic, it does help to not always look the same. (As I actually often do, with my pink dress... oops) Of course it makes sense to be recognisable and have your own style, as Titzy told us in her Pro Tip, being exactly the same does get boring, also for punters. And boring is not a service we want to provide.

On the regulation of prostitution in The Netherlands

It was busy on the street this morning but there were few clients, so in the end it was just me and Mel, talking politics. I tried to explain her in brief the odd way in which prostitution is regulated in The Netherlands, by politicans who choose to actively enhance stigma and local administrators who still prefer to criminalise:

I banned one of the girls

There's a big sign at street whores. It's about 5m high and it's clearly visible in the busiest part of the neighbourhood. It contains the rules and rule nr. 1 is: "Do not send unsollicited IMs to the clients." It doesn't get much eaiser to read. Unless maybe someone attaches this sign to a stick and starts hitting us with it.

Still, there have been numerous girls throughout the years I work here now that try to get ahead of the others by sending IM's to the men. I've explained before, to them, but also in this blog, how it harms places and why we need to get rid of this sort of behaviour. Apart from this, it is anti-social and it kills the social interaction amongst the people present in the street.

We've been pretty busy seeking out the girls who break this rule the past 2 months and we've warned about 15 of them so far. So far I didn't have to ban one of them. Until the other day.

One of the girls was warned twice already. Once before we started to make a list of them, so we had that count omitted (we only warn once, next time they are caught they can be banned). I sent her a default notecard, simply stating that for repeatedly breaking the basic rules of the place she was hereby banned. I still felt kind of bad about it myself, I do have a feel of solidarity with my colleagues.
The response she gave me was quite vicious. For privacy purposes, I won't quote her , but she said that she would normally want to know who turned her in, but she didn't care as she had an alt on the sim already and she would just go on.

This confirmed to me that I did the right thing. Of course I am not going to tell her who informs us. That makes catching those alts a lot harder. SL is just full of anti-social people who don't care about the place they use for their gain or their co-workers. Kind of looks like RL, doesn't it?

Pro Tip 6: Meli: Keep notes of what each client likes

Meli is one of the popular girls at Street Whores. She hasn't been around as long as Mel, with whom she is always bickering, or me, but she's good at hooking up guys. Her sexy dresses and her looks will help there as well.

Her tip points to an obvious truth: if you're a sex worker and you meet many clients, you need to have some sort of administration. Just your memory will not be good enough to remember all of your clients, their likes, their dislikes etc. Also it's better to make each one of them feel welcome. Giving them the feel they are remembered, if at least a little, adds to their self-esteem, their lust and their feel that you are a girl they want to come back to.

The Autumn Swirl party - a few pictures

I made a couple of pictures during the Autumn Swirl party last sunday October first. I will blog them here to give an impression. We all had lots of fun. It had been a while since the previous Street Whores Party. The next one might be for Halloween!

DJ Suzi usually spins the first set at the parties. She treated us to a track of her own this time. Like DJ Rachael she has been trying to make some techno lately.

We had a nice and pretty crowd at the party. Some of the dresses weren't even that short and they even did swirl. I have to be honest and admit I was one of the least appropriately dressed ones. Also, yes we do have a decidated dance floor, but since it used to crash me I derender it for parties.

The second hour DJ Rach usually spins. Somewhere before the end of her set the winners of the 'Best in Theme' contest are announced. I forgot who won. It wasn't me!

Dances with whores

My friend Violet likes to dance. A lot. Where others may hang out, leand against a wall or a street lantern, often she can be seen dancing in the streets. The other morning when I walked into my work spot near the Meat Market she asked me:

While I am often not much of a dancer, not in the streets, the answer to that was "Yes". It was time for something else. While we danced I noticed Steph, who isn't present much recently, was here and she came over to have a look at us.

When Steph left a new girl came in. She was 'just exploring' she said. Xeja soon joined in and we were dancing with 3. She was looking for a job, she mentioned, a thing I hadn't heard in SL for a while. Usually that sounds like a newbee, maybe there aren't as many real newbees around anymore and the new avatars are all just oldtimers trying something else.

Of course you can't dance in the square or do anything without Whotter coming to look you up. Well, in my case of course, having to take care of the little bugger, that is. Initially he was just looking at us, but as soon as Violet spotted him and mentioned the F-word he got started:

A typical morning in the streets

I wanted to show what a shift of a street prostitute in Second Life looks like. It serves to show it's neither glamourous, nor sexy. It's not dirty either. Most of our dealings are pretty casual. That certainly goes for the more experienced girls, who just go about their daily business and have little things they need to ask their colleagues for.

Walking past the peep show and some other relics on my way to the square where the 'statues' are. I start work there today.

It typically starts with me walking out the front door (dressed up in work gear of course) and walking to my corner for the morning. I could call it night, as it will be night for Americans and I occasionally say I 'work the night shift', but for me it's mostly morning, I drink coffee as I go along etc.
The walk gets me past the Meat Market, where I won't stop this time. I pass the new peep show, that mostly seems to function as a decoration piece and walk on to the place that is typicall the busiest. To make sure there's actually contact between some of the veterans and the managers of our neighbourhood and the girls who mostly stand at the 'zombie' or 'statue' corner we decided we should spend some time there again too. It will serve to improve Street Whores as a whole.

At the 'statues'place I talk with Gancao, who is not a statue but one of the 'good' girls.

Arriving at 'zombie central' I get a confrontation with prejudice: the girls present, who are with few, this seems a quiet morning, simply greet me back. After only a few minutes of hanging around I get company: my friend Gancao, whom I haven't seen in maybe 2 months or more, joins me for a chat.
We talk about a number of things, mutual friends, customers we both had, Whotter's dad, who did both of us, and Gancao's tendency to put on weight if she doesn't watch her eating habits.
At some point there is a man, nicely dressed, who chats us up and then leaves again after a while. The same happens with an elderly man, short, grey hair and a moustache, who comes to our place now regularly. I take Gancao apart and explain he never hires girls for sex, but he does go with them every now and then, for any other kind of attention he may need.

After a while Gancao leaves, to her new rental at Street Whores, right next door to the 'zombie square', which turns out not too bad at all this morning, and I go on to talk with another colleague. We can amuse ourselves pretty well while business is slow.
Christina mentions she is not so happy with business the past few weeks and she hopes, now the summer is over and people are back from vacations, it will pick up soon. I just nod, I have the same experience now.
After a while I greet her and I walk on myself, down the road, past the redlight windows and back to my home. This shift is over. No client, too bad.

All alone at the Meat Market

Summer is especially slow this year. I seem to spend much of my time hooking on my own at the Meat Market. Of course there are others who walk in from time to time and I frequently have company, but still it feels lonely.

It's waiting till the vacation season is over. Until then it's patience, patience, patience and grabbing that one opportunity that comes. The few men who aren't out there with the wife and kids, the ones who are back already, or the occasional return business: a happy guy who remembers me and comes back for another 15 to 60 minutes of entertainment.

Summer is slow.
