We are celebrating a party tomorrow at Street Whores that sort of captures 2 events: it has been 15 years since the now iconic Second Life redlight district was founded by Suzi Ah. It's also been 1 year since Jess X rebuilt it after buying the land back at auction.

We hope the party will be fun of course and the start of yet another succesful year in the best redlight district in Second Life's history.

A hectic few weeks at Street Whores

I don't really know where to start. It has been a few weeks since I blogged, since so much happened at Street Whores. It is just not easy to write in an environment like this.

We had a huge reopening party at Street Whores and a couple of times during those 4 hours the region was completely full. So we considered that a big success. There were 2 DJ sets, one lucky visitor even had sex with our second DJ on stage...

We had a few nice locations open in our revived region: Lucky's Garage Bar being one of them.

Another venue we are slowly filling up with DJ events is 'The Underground', a discotheque below street level, accessible through an underground (or subway if you are American, Metro if French) entrance.

Fiver's famous Bar No.5 is back in the street too. It is great to see my old neighbour back, this time with a derelict/burnt down version of the bar she used to have opposite my old house in Bordello Alley. It was completely jampacked this sunday and everyone was drunk.

And of course I had lots to do myself...

Where has Tsai Cheng been?

 Yes, you are probably wondering:

"Where has Tsai been?"

Well, actually I have been at the Second Life Bookclub a lot. With Whotter, who has his own tiny seat. He thinks it's a VIP seat of course and yesterday venue designer Ruby Geek even placed it on a table. Now Whotter surely thinks he is a Very Important Person...

 Meanwhile whores have been whoring, or drinking, like these 2. Waiting for 2020, 2021, to be over and life returning to normal. Like Second Life ever would be...

Where has Whotter been? Well, besides coming with me to the Bookclub, thinking he is a famous author, he has mostly been selling the girls fish and chips. Which is not a wise thing to buy from him. He has probably caused his fair share of obesity and food poisoning by now.

But what can I say? It probably eliminates the competition...

The summer slump has started

The Urban Dictionary says about the 'summer slump':

A period during summer in which a person performs inefficiently due to the excessive amount of free time on their hands.

Causes: Lack of school or a job, absence of friends, insufficient funds, and/or lack of transportation.

For me it is: lack of business. All good, hardworking husbands and boyfriends are on vacation with partner and kids. And, God* forbid, they may even have sex with their wives. The poor things. Meanwhile we are bored to bits here. Even the bar is empty now.

So this is how Chrissy and I walked into the bar at the opposite side of the street. Well... guess. No one there either of course. So we amused ourselves for a few minutes and then walked back into Bar No.5 for a cup of coffee and something to smoke.

August really is the worst. I should go on vacation too.

But then, someone should go on vacation to here, right? As this photo by Chrissy shows, it does get pretty hot here, even in August.

From bar to brothel

 "A fucking great sunday, " Fiver said and she was right.

The photo that barmaid Candy got me said it all. But I had just been missing out on the fun, arriving late to the scene. No cock and most important, no cash for this virtual whore.

Fiver's little bar has been doing exceptionally well. She sells beer and whisky there and has a bunch of sex furniture. The idea was just for the girls to hang out there though, originally. It was time for a party again. Whotter was happy, because that meant he could stay up late now (again, since we visited the Second Life Bookclub earlier this week where he behaved like a little barbarian again).

DJ Claudine spinned for the entire duration of the party, 2 hours. We all had lots of fun, Whotter, wearing his tiny Cthulhu outfit (What is it with those monsters and little children?) even won one of the prizes.
Later on the party got quite raunchy, especially when the DJ was stripped naked, a thing she promised for sufficient tips, and later on even had sex on stage.

Showing off for the noob

I didn't think he looked that bad (yeah really, noobs aren't what they used to be, they look too good nowadays...) but the other girls did and they were showing him all sorts of avatars and outfits. So I took out my sheep avatar once again too.

This is also how I found back Fräulein. The siamese cat had been hiding deep in some alley of my inventory. She was probably scared of Whotter.
I am not sure the noob was really helped with all the advice. His noob behaviour manifested itself mostly in that he kept referring to Second Life as a 'game'. I am not going into that discussion here, but it is rather typical. He did play guitar though, that was cool.

A little chat on sunday morning

Kath walked by to say hello this morning, just when I was wondering to blog about. Sunday mornings used to be good for business, catching late-night American clients, but it seems lately the American market has dried up here lately, in favour of the European. It might just be a thing of this region...
She mentioned the other place, where I had used her apartment previously. Apparently, some pimp had robbed them of 300.000L$. That's pretty bad. It sounds a bit like the scams and robberies that were all over SL in the old days. To me, it also sounded like someone had been very naive.

So, what else happened the past few weeks?

I had a little chat with Rachael, who has left us at Street Whores and is now an owner in another region. She seems to be doing well. I'm happy for that.

And Whotter showed up with a truck, that he got somewhere to transport his fish. I am not sure where he had bought it, or whether he even stole it, but he was creating quite the havoc with it. I allowed this for a little while, as I hoped he would drive it over the tyre kicker that followed me and Bojana around that day. Unfortunately, the tyre kicker had been smart enough to leave the scene in time...

Violins, foals and fish and chips

The other day I had a chat with Bo next to Whotter's fish and chips stand. I told bo about my two new odd daughters and brought in the white foals. For the first time, I noticed that Whotter actually liked to see them. He wasn't showing any sign of jealousy anymore.

Meanwhile, Bo and I were talking about 'making things happen'. Conctrary to regular video games, a virtual world is a platform, not a place with precooked storylines. This means you rely on your own creativity and that of the people around you to make it fun. Saying "I am bored" actually says a lot about yourself here...
And, oh blast, did Whotter just start feeding the poor foals fish and chips there? Hey, that's not good for horses! Damn Whotter.

Well, as you may understand it didn't take long before they were completely stuffed with the fatty food and spent the next hour reclining in the middle of the street...

Visiting another town

I hadn't really worked in another place for years, except maybe for the Bunny Girl Club, which never really took off. In the past I was at Trashy Whore Trailer Park at times, but otherwise I've been pretty much confined to Street Whores.
But unrest does get a girl on her legs so I decided to take a look around. It wasn't long before I found a place to visit: Whore Street, in Velvet Isle region.

Much to my surprise I even found girls who greeted me and talked back to me when I did. It almost feels like a new experience now. A few men walked in during the first 10 minutes I was there: they said hello too. That's refreshing!

For the AFK girls there was even a special board. And there was actually a manager around that had the task to enforce a no-AFK rule. Well-done!

Street Whores is moving - Part 2

The new region for Street Whores, whose location I will reveal later, looks very much like the old one, but the shopping area will be redesigned. The current shopping square has not been functioning for a long time now and it was definitely due for an overhaul.
Because of this, my old corner house, 3 stories big and revised several times over the years I have been living in it, will not be there anymore either. That's the sad part of the story. The good part is: I will now be a neighbour of whores like Mel and Kath, the long-time renters and veterans of the alley. Add me to this slippery row of tenants and you will know where to look next time you visit Street Whores.

There's a lot of work to be done to my new house still and for at least the coming week my old house will still be around, but the bed is already there. So everything should be set for action.

Meanwhile, Whotter is very active too. He is a bit sad that he will have to give up his current shop space for his fish and chips restaurant, but he's showing himself the little entrepreneur too in the process. I am not sure what he plans to do with his fish and chips business, but here you see him chat up Agua, thinking that there might be some space left in the moving truck that carries her things.

Pro Tip 10: Fay: don't be fucking pushy with guys

Pro Tip 9: Bojana: try to figure out what your client likes

I spoke with Bojana about my series 'Pro-Tips' almost 2 months ago now and she had actually given me a pro tip for my blog. I hadn't processed it until now though. So, it's about time:

"Always look at the Client's profile and try to work out what HE likes. Don't get stuck on what YOU offer..."

Being a whore is getting into someone's mind and becoming their fantasy. In RL learning to read the clues in someone's behaviour, or even their cock's reaction to what you do can be quite an art, in SL it can sometimes be much simpler: take the trouble to read someone's profile. Look at what it says, in SL and RL tabs, look at picks and groups.
Then you can have a look at their avatar and you may get an idea of what this person is about. Some may still surprise you of course. But that's part of the game too...  You will learn to read avatars over time.

My new window brothel

I never saw many functional window brothels in Second Life, so when I saw 3 consecutive shop spaces empty, just outside my front door, I decided to just rent the lot and see how it would work out if I started build my own.

It only took me about an hour or so to build it, so I could test it out with one of the girls that happened to be in the neighbourhood before too long. Of course Whotter thought the whole thing interesting too. Soon enough he realised there wasn't going to be any fish around though.

For every 3 windows I added a room with a bed and a sink. A simple phantom wall separates these from the vitrines. That's the handy thing about SL of course: I can omitt corridors and other spaces that just take up place.

I had to go on a trip over the weekend, but I was back soon enough to try the place for myself to work in. While I didn't get any business yet, I managed to attract some of the girls to try the vitrines. A few men walked by as well. If the thing works halfway decent, I will keep it after the month of rent I paid for it now.

Pro Tip 8: Violet: Change your outfits

Violet, with her sheer endless inventory and gigantic wardrobe is sitting on the fountain edge here. She asks a lot of money from her guys, but then: she gives a lot of love and made 1.5 million L$ in her first year of (text) escorting alone. If they don't respect her though, they can 'Go fuck themselves." She is quite clear on that. This is her Pro Tip.

Violet's Pro Tip:

"Always  wear a new outfit  every day. That always works for me."

While buying a new outfit every day, as Violet claims to do, is a bit drastic, it does help to not always look the same. (As I actually often do, with my pink dress... oops) Of course it makes sense to be recognisable and have your own style, as Titzy told us in her Pro Tip, being exactly the same does get boring, also for punters. And boring is not a service we want to provide.

I banned one of the girls

There's a big sign at street whores. It's about 5m high and it's clearly visible in the busiest part of the neighbourhood. It contains the rules and rule nr. 1 is: "Do not send unsollicited IMs to the clients." It doesn't get much eaiser to read. Unless maybe someone attaches this sign to a stick and starts hitting us with it.

Still, there have been numerous girls throughout the years I work here now that try to get ahead of the others by sending IM's to the men. I've explained before, to them, but also in this blog, how it harms places and why we need to get rid of this sort of behaviour. Apart from this, it is anti-social and it kills the social interaction amongst the people present in the street.

We've been pretty busy seeking out the girls who break this rule the past 2 months and we've warned about 15 of them so far. So far I didn't have to ban one of them. Until the other day.

One of the girls was warned twice already. Once before we started to make a list of them, so we had that count omitted (we only warn once, next time they are caught they can be banned). I sent her a default notecard, simply stating that for repeatedly breaking the basic rules of the place she was hereby banned. I still felt kind of bad about it myself, I do have a feel of solidarity with my colleagues.
The response she gave me was quite vicious. For privacy purposes, I won't quote her , but she said that she would normally want to know who turned her in, but she didn't care as she had an alt on the sim already and she would just go on.

This confirmed to me that I did the right thing. Of course I am not going to tell her who informs us. That makes catching those alts a lot harder. SL is just full of anti-social people who don't care about the place they use for their gain or their co-workers. Kind of looks like RL, doesn't it?

Pro Tip 6: Meli: Keep notes of what each client likes

Meli is one of the popular girls at Street Whores. She hasn't been around as long as Mel, with whom she is always bickering, or me, but she's good at hooking up guys. Her sexy dresses and her looks will help there as well.

Her tip points to an obvious truth: if you're a sex worker and you meet many clients, you need to have some sort of administration. Just your memory will not be good enough to remember all of your clients, their likes, their dislikes etc. Also it's better to make each one of them feel welcome. Giving them the feel they are remembered, if at least a little, adds to their self-esteem, their lust and their feel that you are a girl they want to come back to.
